Authors and Reviewers
Authors explain whisky clearly; reviewers check claims within their area of competence. Each published biography must identify the person, explain the experience relevant to their work and disclose interests that could affect a reader’s judgement.
Who is responsible
Every published piece must have a real, named author or editor. Law, health, safety, ownership and technical production pieces must also have a named reviewer with relevant, disclosed competence. A named human editor has final publication authority; automated assistance is not expert review or publication approval.
Names and biographies have not yet been supplied for this page. The placeholders below are editorial completion fields, not published profiles, and must be replaced with verified information before publication.
Authors and editors
[EDITOR TO ADD]
An author’s profile should explain why their experience is relevant to the subjects they cover. It must not imply a qualification, professional role, distillery visit or tasting record that has not been established. Where a contribution is desk research, it should be described as such rather than presented as personal experience.

A reviewer’s profile must state the boundaries of their review. Experience in one subject does not establish competence in another: a production review, for example, is not a medical or legal review. Readers should be able to see which subject the reviewer checked, rather than having to infer expertise from a general biography.
What a byline does and does not mean
A byline identifies responsibility for the writing; it does not replace the evidence supporting it. Material claims must still have appropriate sources, and a reviewer’s involvement does not turn a company’s account, an unverified story or a personal opinion into an established fact.
Tastings and visits may be described as first hand only when the supporting record is supplied. A biography is not evidence that its author tasted a particular bottle, visited a particular site or independently verified every statement made by a producer.
Interests and editorial independence
Profiles must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and relationships connected with the contributor’s work. Where a piece involves a supplied tasting sample or a commercial relationship, the disclosure belongs with that piece as well; readers should not have to search a biography to understand the circumstances of a contribution.
Keeping profiles accurate
Biographies should distinguish current roles from previous experience and describe qualifications precisely. Changes to a contributor’s role, review scope or relevant interests must be reflected here, without overstating what their involvement establishes.
