Distillery Status Tracker
The Distillery Status Tracker separates a distillery's business position, distilling activity, visitor access and physical site, so that one status does not stand in for another. Use it to see what a dated source establishes, rather than treating a single label such as “closed” as the whole story.
[TOOL TO BUILD]
How to use the tracker
Start with the distillery you want to check, then read all four status fields together. Check the observation date and supporting source for each field: the dates may differ because one record does not necessarily establish every part of a distillery's position.
If you are planning a visit, confirm arrangements directly with the official website before travelling. The tracker is a reference record, not a booking service or a promise that access will be available.
What the four fields mean
| Field | What to read |
|---|---|
| Business status | The recorded position of the business, using the terminology of its jurisdiction. |
| Distilling status | Whether production is recorded as producing, seasonal, paused, mothballed, ceased, commissioning, under construction or planned. |
| Visitor access | Whether the site is open with stated conditions, temporarily closed, closed to visitors, has no public access or cannot be confirmed. |
| Site | The recorded condition of the physical site, such as standing, redeveloped or demolished. |
For any field that cannot be verified, the tracker uses “cannot confirm” or “not verified”, rather than assigning a positive or negative status. An unknown entry is not evidence of closure, continued production or public access.
Sources and matching method
The tracker's inputs are the site's shared distillery records and the dated evidence attached to individual fields. Each entry must identify the distillery concerned, the fact supported, the source and the date on which that evidence was checked.
The matching rule is straightforward: a source supports only the status it actually establishes. A statement about visitor access does not populate the distilling field; a business record does not, by itself, establish the condition of the buildings.
Official registers, company filings and dated company statements are assessed for the particular fact they document. Company statements remain identified as company statements, and inclusion in an industry list is not treated as confirmation that stills are running today.
Dates, updates and limits
Read the source date, the event or observation date, and the verification date separately. Checking an older statement today does not turn it into a new observation, and an announcement is not treated as proof that the announced change has happened.
Status records are scheduled for review at least every six months and when a relevant source changes. Conflicting evidence is referred for editorial resolution before an entry is changed; a newer publication alone does not automatically outweigh a better source.
The tracker does not provide live monitoring, opening hours or tour availability. Read each result as a sourced statement with a date, not as a guarantee of the position at the moment you view it.
Sources
This page describes the site's prescribed tracking method rather than reporting individual distillery statuses. No external sources or individual distillery records were supplied for this draft; the completed tool must display the supporting sources alongside its entries.
The page was prepared from the supplied editorial rules and tool brief, without first-hand reporting.
