Whisky Reference Change Log (dated updates on law, ownership and status)

The Whisky Reference Change Log records substantive updates to the reference pages on whiskydistillery.co.uk, especially changes to law, ownership and distillery status. Each dated entry should explain what changed, when the underlying event took effect and which pages were amended.

Dated updates

No dated change entries are included in this edition of the log. This is not a statement that no relevant events have occurred; an entry needs a checked source and an identified page amendment before it belongs here.

What this log covers

Law entries identify the jurisdiction and distinguish rules in force from proposals, transitional arrangements and historical rules. A consultation or announcement does not become a change in the law simply because it has been reported.

Ownership entries separate an announced agreement from a completed transaction. Where current ownership is established but the exact completion date is not, the entry should preserve that distinction rather than supply an inferred date.

Status entries distinguish the business, distilling activity, visitor access and the physical site. A change to one does not establish a change to the others: a visitor closure, for example, must not be presented as evidence that distillation has stopped.

How to read an entry

Entries should appear with the most recently published update first. The publication date tells you when the reference was amended; the effective date tells you when the event or rule applied, and the checked date tells you when the supporting evidence was reviewed.

Each published entry should contain:

Corrections and developing information

A correction fixes information that was wrong; an update reflects a later event or newly established evidence. Entries should say which applies, so that a reader can distinguish a mistake in the reference from a change in the subject itself.

Conflicting evidence requires editorial resolution before a replacement fact is published. Where a later update changes an earlier entry, the relationship between the entries should remain clear, rather than leaving two apparently competing accounts.

What this page does not replace

This log is a record of substantive amendments, not a live news feed or a complete history of every organisation mentioned on the site. Read the affected article for the full explanation, source references and any qualification that matters to the claim.
